Mainting My Twistouts

Reiko! asked about some of my hair routines so here is the first in my hair series

I've been wearing a twistout for the past week. I like for my twistouts to maintain their shapes and since I sleep crazy the only way to do this for me to pin it down.

Step 1: Get long bobby pins

Step 2: Pin sides and back down. How many pins you use is up to you. I tend to use 12, 3 on each side and 6 in the back

Step 3: Put satin bonnet on. I prefer a bonnet because scarves don't stay on my head at all. They always end up on the floor. I like this particular bonnet because you can adjust it to how tight or loose you want it and there are no worries abut the elastic disappearing and it stays on my head. With traditional bonnets at some point the elastic always vanishes and it ends up all big and useless. I always end up making it fit with rubber bands and it too ends up on the floor next to the scarf.

You're good to go for the night!

Next day...my twistout is smashed against my ahead so I need to revive it.

I do this one of 3 ways. 1. Take the pins out give my hair a fluff and a shake 2. Apply spritz and moisturizer then fluff, shake 3. Take all the pins out and let the steam from the shower plump my hair up then apply moisturizer then fluff and shake. Today I did 2.

Final results!

My spritz changes depending on what I feel like using. This batch was water, glycerin, rose water and Pantene Relaxed and Natural Daily Oil Cream Moisturizer. I follow that with my moisturizer of the moment which is Pantene Relaxed and Natural Daily Oil Cream Moisturizer (review to follow). I also do the same thing when I'm wearing twists. I'm serious when I tell you I sleep crazy...lol

@ amina - Thanks! A twistout can last me about 2 weeks. 1 week actually wearing out and the second in some kind of puff.

@ reiko! - You're so very welcome!

@ B- Thanks!

I sleep wild too...and I also switched from scarves to bonnets...but my bonnet comes off too. What type of bonnet do you buy? I can't wait for you to review the Relaxed and Natural Daily Cream Oil Moisturizer. Do you think I can do twists with my relaxed hair?
