FP101 Review: L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara

Now you know I was excited when I got the chance to try L'Oreal’s new Telescopic Explosion mascara aka Givenchy Phenomen Eyes for the masses on a budget. Now when I first saw the Givenchy mascara I just had to have it. I never did and it stays on my list of things to buy so I was more than happy to try this affordable version.
 New Globe brush
The secret to lashes that blow you away? Discover new Telescopic Explosion mascara with the NEW GLOBE BRUSH.

The globe shaped brush is:
- Precise: to get right into the corners capturing even the shortest lashes.
-Spherical: to use from any angle for longer-looking lashes.
- Precise: to seek out every lash for a fanned out effect.

The Result: A spectacular fanned-out effect, for voluminous and beautifully lengthened looking lashes.

Overall this mascara isn’t bad but isn’t one that I reach for. I find the brush to be kind of weak and I have issues with a weak brush. I can ‘t stand to use a mascara and feel like the brush is going to break when I’m trying to get it back in the tube or when I’m applying it. A gouged out eye is not a good look. It’s also a tab clumperific so when I do use it I layer it with mascara and the results are great.

Since I’ve never used Phenomen Eyes so I can’t compare the two but if you’ve wanted to try the Givenchy version but didn’t want to pay that Givenchy price Telescopic Explosion is the way to go.

Pretty Committe Field Trip

The Pretty Committee met up Saturday and brought their pretty kids with them for some shopping fun.

I picked up some things from our CCO field trip

MAC Paint in Mauvism – So pretty!! A shimmery purple.

Mac Pigment in Dark Soul – I love this color!! I’ve been trying to find a black with a shimmer. The ones I have are ashy and this one has so much sparkle to it. It even looks like a totally different shade the more you apply it and depending on the lighting.

MAC Shadow in Romping – A pretty pinky/purple shadow

MAC Brow Gel in Show Off

Swatches...

Romping, Dark Soul, Mauvism and Show Off

Afterwards Slverlips, her sister and The Unrealistic Designer (not pictured) and I took a trip to Ulta.  Of course I had to get some things.

NYC Brush on Brow Kit in Brunette – This combined with the brow gel looks really nice. I have a slight obsession with that polished, sharp brow so I’m going play around with the two until I get it to the point where I can leave the house and not look like a fool.

Loreal Blendable Blushing Creme in Blushing and Elated  - Only a few places sell these in my area, well used to sell them.  I really think they're being phased out here because I can rarely find them.  So you know when I saw them on clearance I had to get them!

The day was a lot of fun as was expected I can't wait for next month!!!

FOTD 8/4

Pink and blue with a hint of purple...

One day I will learn how to fill in that brow...

On eyes: Not pictured UDPP; Lancome Shadow Duo in Sparkling Plum – Gold side(Highlight); Clinique Lash Building Primer; Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black; Max Factor Volume Couture Mascara in Rich Black; Lancome Color Design Defining and Sparkling Eye Pencil Duo in Sparkling Black; Valana Minerals Eye Indulgence in Royal Butterfly (crease)
Pictured: Maybelline Unstoppable Shadow Pencil in Persistent Pink (base); Jesse’s Girl Color My World Shadow in Volcanic (lid); HIP Shadow in Roaring (blue side – crease); Hip Cream Liner in Midnight Blue

Hauling and Duping on a Budget

I'm supposed to be saving my money for the Cult of Cherry Collection but after watching fafinettex3's video about Jessie's Girl Cosmetics new eyeshadows the makeup junkie in me won and I did a little shopping.

Jessie's Girl Cosmetics have come out with Color My World shadows which remind me of MAC's Mineralized Eyeshadow Duos.

From top to bottom:
Volcanic, Earthquake, Evergreen

Used wet or dry, our four baked powders are dewy and feel similar to highly micronized pigments. Since minimal binders are used in the baking process versus pressing, baked powders have the lightness of a loose powder. Sponge tip applicator included.

Pretty good dupe don't you think for $4.99 vs. MAC's $17.50

Dry:

Wet:

The color payoff is amazing! The shadows are highly pigmented and go on smooth. I'm not quite sure how I feel about them wet. I was too lazy to mix up mixing medium so I used Fix+. The color was more vibrant but kinda difficult to spread. I'm not sure if my using Fix+ was the issue so I'll try it again with some actual mixing medium. Right now Jesse's Girl is running a special get all 4 shadows for $17.00 plus free shipping to any U.S. address.

I made a trip to my favorite T.J. Maxx and picked up some Lancome items...
Color Design Shadows in Topaz Temptation and Gold Enchantment. Retail $16.50 T.J. Maxx 5.99
Color Design Crayon Duo Defining and Sparkling Eye Pencil Duo in Sparkling Black and Sparkling Brown. Retail $28.00 T.J. Maxx 7.99

From Top to Bottom Topaz Temptation (which you can't see), Gold Enchantment, Sparkling Brown, Sparkling Black and the Highlight end to the pencil which is a grey with silver glitter.

I'm in love with the pencils! I've had a really hard time finding a soft pencil that goes on smooth and is easy to blend. This pencil is perfect! The highlight end of the pencil is for well...highlighting.

I think I see Pretty Committee field trip to T.J. Maxx in the future...

Also went to Tarjay and got a new bronzer. Loreal Glam Bronze Limited Edition bronzer in Sunkissed Copper.

Check out your Target beauty clearence sections. Certain Cover Girl eyeshadows are .78 and Bare Minerals Beyond the Basics is 34.98 instead of 49.99.

Gotta love a bargain!!!

A Blue Experiment

I had wanted to wear a blue look on Sunday but all the blues I had were more of the going out and shaking your tail feather variety. This is not quite the look I wanted since I was going to church so I decided to visit CVS and see if I could find something subtle. Since there is always some type of sale going on I found a L’Oreal Infinite Eye Shadow Quad in blues (not quite sure of the actual name). I like it, it was the softness I was looking for. Plus one quad will give you a couple of looks which I love. Here’s what I came up with. This was at the end of the day so I already had my face done.

Eyes: L’Oreal Infinite Eye Shadow Quad in blue; NIK eyeshadow pencil in White; HIP creme line in Blue; NYX Liner in Black

I also wanted to try the Max Factor MaxWear lip color I got in Pomegranate Fusion. I tend to wear just the purple side so I wanted to see what both looked like together since that is how you’re supposed to wear it. The result to me was mixed. I love the color but I thought some parts were too clumpy and thick. Overall I like it but I need to work on the base application. They suggest waiting 1 minute to let the base dry before rubbing your lips together and applying the gloss. I found that after the minute it was to dry to do anything. The gloss did make it better and you could kind fill in where needed. I’ll probably go get some more since the colors are so pretty.
