FOTD 7/3 and Mini Review

Playing around in my makeup and this is what I came up with. I called myself putting on some lashes...didn't turn out so well. Well...the left eye was great the right one not so much. I tried to use the lash applicator that came with my kit and I really didn't like it. I think I may get the lash kit from Spehora. I saw a video on youtube about and it seems like it would make application a lot easier.

Mini Review - The Max Factor gloss is one of their lip shines. Straight up I don’t like it. The concept is simple and cool; you apply the color side wait a minute and apply the gloss and get a whole new color that will last all day. I have another one, Pomegranate Fusion, which is pink and purple. I don’t really like that one either but I like it much better than the Tempting Vixen. With Tempting Vixen it was beyond hard to apply the color side. It never looked even and was kind of blotchy. It dried to a really ugly dull color and no matter how many coats of the gloss I applied it didn’t get any better. The worst part was IT WOULDN’T COME OFF!! I’m not exaggerating when I say it took 10 minutes to get it off and I’m talking about 10 minutes of scrubbing and you still have little bits on. So when they say long lasting all day color they mean it. Let me add that it left my lips really dry. The best parts of the lip shines are the glosses. Those are very pretty. Good thing I got both on clearance and with a coupon. If I paid full price I would have been hot!!

FOTD 5/18

A greenish gold Sunday look.

Eyes: L'Oreal HIP Paint in Nervy (base); Hip Pigments in Visionary(1st third of lid) & Restless (highlight); HIP shadows in Foxy (brown side) & Devious (green on lid brown in crease); Volume Couture by Max Factor Mascara (my new love of the week); Victoria's Secret Liquid Liner in Blackout (upper lash line); NYX Liner in Black (waterline)

Face and Lips: Face and Lips: Perscriptives Custom Blend Concealer; Bare Minerals Powder Foundation in Deepest Deep; Milani blush in Sweet Rose, Milani lip liner in Black Brown and gloss in Sweet

I'm very impressed with the HIP paints. I used it instead of UDPP and it blended really well and I had no creasing what so ever.

My new favorite product this week is Volume Couture by Max Factor Mascara. It's like false lashes in a tube. The wand reminds me of Cover Girl Lash Exact, which I love, and Maybelline Define-A-Lash, which I like. Define-A-Lash is a good mascara but I thought the wand was flimsy. Maybe I got a bad one but I found the wand bended way to easy when I was putting it back into the tube and I was afraid it would break. I got Volume Couture at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $6.

A Blue Experiment

I had wanted to wear a blue look on Sunday but all the blues I had were more of the going out and shaking your tail feather variety. This is not quite the look I wanted since I was going to church so I decided to visit CVS and see if I could find something subtle. Since there is always some type of sale going on I found a L’Oreal Infinite Eye Shadow Quad in blues (not quite sure of the actual name). I like it, it was the softness I was looking for. Plus one quad will give you a couple of looks which I love. Here’s what I came up with. This was at the end of the day so I already had my face done.

Eyes: L’Oreal Infinite Eye Shadow Quad in blue; NIK eyeshadow pencil in White; HIP creme line in Blue; NYX Liner in Black

I also wanted to try the Max Factor MaxWear lip color I got in Pomegranate Fusion. I tend to wear just the purple side so I wanted to see what both looked like together since that is how you’re supposed to wear it. The result to me was mixed. I love the color but I thought some parts were too clumpy and thick. Overall I like it but I need to work on the base application. They suggest waiting 1 minute to let the base dry before rubbing your lips together and applying the gloss. I found that after the minute it was to dry to do anything. The gloss did make it better and you could kind fill in where needed. I’ll probably go get some more since the colors are so pretty.

FOTD 5/7

CVS was having a buy one get one 50% Wet N Wild sale. I picked up 2 eyeshadow palettes. The brown is Belgian Chocolates and the blue is Island Blues. Both are very nice with good color payoff.
So after my makeup adventure at Macy's I came home and and despite my being tired and sleepy decided to play with my new purchases which is why the concealer is not blended properly. I really like Port Red not sure if I like it with the eye but I do like how it looks on me.

Eyes; UDPP; HIP Shadow Crayon in Meticulous; HIP creme liner in Brown; Wet n Wild Shadow Trio in Belgian Chocolates; Max Factor Vivid Impact Mascara Face and Lips: Perscriptives Custom Blend Concealer; Bare Minerals Powder Foundation in Deepest Deep; HIP Bronzer in Thriving; Revlon Sculpting Blush in Berry Daring; L'oreal Liner in Blackberry; MAC lipstick in Port Red

FOTD 5/1 and a Mini Haul

I love Iman makeup. I tend to use in the fall and winter since it's too heavy for me in the summer. It truly gives a flawless finish. I've been looking at her shadows for a while and during a trip to Tarjay and decided to pick up 2 shadows.

Top to bottom: Safari, which is a golden green color; African Violet, which is a dark purple with flecks of blue in it. Both colors are very pretty and pack a lot of color. I'm really impressed with the color payoff a little goes along way.

The next day I decided to try out my new purchase. A tad dramatic for daytime I know.

Eyes: UDPP; HIP Shadows, Charisma (Light side as highlight), Mischief (grey side); Iman Shadow in African Violet; Wet n Wild Shadow in Cream; Valana Minerals Shadow in Mystic Lava; HIP Shadow Crayon in Intricate; NYX Liner in Black; Victoria's Secret Liquid Liner in Blackout
Face and Lips; Smashbox Camera Ready Concealer in 8; Bare Minerals Powder Foundation in Deepest Deep; HIP Bronzer in Thriving; Revlon Sculpting Blush in Berry Daring; Milani Liner in Black Brown and Max Factor Pomegranate Fusion (purple side)

I wanted to play around with my new Max Factor Mascara. *Please ignore the fact that I did not fill in one of my eyebrows*

A look at the lashes...

Mini Haul 4/25

I have 3 coupons for Ulta that I am determined to use. Since I can't use them at the same time I am forced to make numerous visits until I can get rid of them.

I love OPI Nail Lacquers but I'm not really fond of the 8.50 price. So needless to say I was a tad excited when I saw that that they were 3.99 on clearance. From left to right Brights Power which is like a Crayola orange; Magnifico Mexico which is like an orange with shimmer in it; Fit for a Queensisland, a white with a purple shimmer to it. I am determined to make white nail polish work for me so I figure a shimmery white would be better than a plain Wite-Out white; Purple Pizzazz Frost, I actually got this at Target. It's a purple with a blue mixed in.

This is what the Brights Power looks like. I have 3 coats on. 2 coats was kinda streaky. I like it its a serious orange and looks pretty in the sun. I think its a great summer color.

I can't remember where I first saw the Max Factor Vivid Impact Mascara's ads. I think it may have been in one of my numerous magazines. Wearing color mascara wasn't new for me. I lived in blue mascara in high school and a few years ago I rocked a black cherry mascara by Loreal. What caught my eye about these were the idea of adding a highlight to my lashes. This week they're buy one get one free at Ulta so I figured I would give the a try and see how I felt about them. From left to right 24 Karat Brown, which is a brown with a gold highlight and Blushing Blue, a blue with a pink highlight. I love them!! The highlight adds a punch of color. The best part is they seriously lengthen your lashes. I was actually stunned at how long they looked. They come in 5 colors and I plan on getting them all and maybe try some of the regular mascaras.

I also got a lip gloss in Pomegranate Fusion. That's the pink and purple tube in the picture. It's one of those long wear glosses. The pink is the 8 hour long wear lip color and the purple adds depth. I don't normally wear colored glosses. I have a ton of glosses in varied tones of the same neutral shade. I really liked the purple so I figured I'd give this a try. I like it. I only wore it for 2 minutes so I can't tell you if it really lasted for 8 hours like it proclaims it does. I found that pink can't be worn alone it really needs some thing to go on top of it because it dulls when it dries but when you add the purple it's really pretty.

Overall I am pleased with my Ulta purchase!!
